Buffalo police on Monday have rescued a 4 year old cat, Navarro, which was marinated with crushed red peppers, chili pepper, salt and oil by its owner, Gary L. Korkuc. The cops found the cat on a trunk in a car driven by Korkuc during a traffic stop on Sunday night. According to the police, the owner was planning to cook and make a meal out of his pet blaming it to be bad tempered.
Korkuc seemed to have adopted the cat on May 11 from SPCA on Ensminger Road. After hearing the news, Gina M. Browning, the SPCA’s director of public relations said, “It’s disgusting. It surprises me every day what people are capable of when it comes to violence, whether it is animals or people. I’ve never heard of anything like this before.”
After the rescue, Navarro has been given a couple of baths to clean of marinates by SPCA staffs. The cat seems to have been adjusting well and comfortable.
